START OF A FIELDWORK RESEARCH ON CHARACTERIZATION OF THE DEMAND IN THE NETWORK OF CERCANÍAS RENFE MADRID

On February 20, fieldwork related to the Demand Characterization study in the Renfe Cercanías network in Madrid, commissioned by Consorcio de Transportes de Madrid to ABACO Estudios de Mercado, began.

This work has the following objectives:

Characterize spatially the set of trips made in the Madrid Cercanías Network and the distribution of titles used by travelers in a working day.

Determine the distribution of trips made with Travel Pass in the Cercanías de Madrid network

Likewise, determine the origin-destination station matrix of the set of journeys in the network, for each type of ticket

The denomination of the lines to be studied is the following:

  • Line C1: Príncipe Pío – Atocha – Airport T4
  • Line C10: Villalba – Príncipe Pío – Atocha – Fuente de la Mora
  • Line C2/8: Guadalajara – Atocha – Chamartín – Cercedilla (some trains go on up to Cercedilla)
  • Line C3: Aranjuez – Atocha – Sol- Chamartín – El Escorial (some trains go on up to El Escorial)
  • Line C4: Parla – Atocha- Sol- Alcobendas/Colmenar Viejo (sublines C-4A Alcobendas, C-4B Colmenar Viejo)
  • Line C5: Móstoles El Soto – Atocha – Humanes (most of trains have their O/D in Fuenlabrada-Móstoles)
  • Line C7: Alcalá de Henares – Atocha – Chamartín – P. Pío – Fuente de la Mora (sublines C-7, Alcalá H- Atocha-Chamartín-P.Pío. C7-B Príncipe Pío – Atocha – Fuente de la Mora)

 

Interviews are to be carried out on weekdays (except on Fridays), in February and March, during the service hours of the lines, this from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

It starts from an objective sample of at least 160,000 interviews conveniently distributed by station, line, direction and time, with the aim of reaching a minimum effective sample of 130,000 representative interviews of the station, line, direction and time period.
