Occupancy Control of passengers in a working day rush hour in EMT net of Madrid

Goals:

This job is within the framework of periodical projects conducted for Consorcio de Transportes de Madrid for collecting and exploiting data of  the public transport net in Madrid and analysing demand in order to plan and program services presentation with all warranties of the correct adaptation of offer to demand.

It is a field research of the EMT network, which aim is to determine offer, demand and intensity of passengers in critical sections and directions of each of the lines, which conditions the net service.

Job description:

Job developed by ABACO consist of data collection on passengers “in” and “out” in each bus stop, as well as ID information of every bus and arrival time to each bus stop. All EMT (Local Transport Company) day lines are surveyed in a regular working day in the way and period of highest occupancy, making counts in all buses on service in the specific way and period.

Once the information is gathered, matrix are built. On top of that,, information on demand is completed with real offer, particularly taking into account frequency, occupancy, comercial and exploitation speed as well as information on uses of the line and trip lenght. This allows to get to know offer and demand of different EMT lines during rush hour.
