Origin-Destination Survey and Survey of the effects on the transport system of long-distance bus stops at Barajas Airport provided by the Ministry of Public Works

Goals:

This is a field research based on interviewing users of public transport and another survey of taxi users (individual public transport), in order to establish the impact on stops and long-distance stations in the municipality of Madrid following the modifications planned by the Ministry of Public Works in the long-distance concessional system, as well as to know and characterize the demand of public transport of the Airport. The study aims to gather as much information as possible on the mobility between the airport and the long-distance bus stations in the municipality of Madrid.

Job description:

The work developed by ABACO consists of the application of a questionnaire of Revelead and Declared Preferences to public transport users, asking travelers who access public transport in:

  • Platforms of the Metro stations of the Airport (Airport T1 T2 T3 and Airport T4) going toward Madrid (Nuevos Ministerios), line 8.
  • Urban bus stops (EMT) from the airport of lines 200 and 203 express, going toward Madrid.
  • Long-distance bus stops, to all lines and companies that access docks 1, 2, 3 and 4.
  • Taxi, asking travelers who are getting off a taxi at Estación Sur de Autobuses.

Additionally, there is a counting of travelers who board long-distance buses, with the intention of assessing the current weight, in number of travelers, who use this long-distance service with a stop at the Barajas Airport. This counting was carried out in docks 1, 2, 3 and 4 of terminal T4.

The sample obtained in the survey reaches 37,900 interviews
